When I began college, my plan was to be a teacher and author of children's literature. After much discussion, my father convinced me to get my Bachelor's degree in Business, which I completed in 1990. I worked at Baylor Hospital in Health Care Administration until my second child was born and was constantly sick with typical daycare infectious diseases. I began my journey into homeschooling in August of 2000 with my pre K and 2nd grade boys. It was then that I realized my passion for teaching and making the educational process ENJOYABLE for students. With the help of several women, I started a small university model co-op in Rowlett, which is still successful today. My family participated in it for several years when they were in elementary school. For the past four years, I've taught upper level courses in Rockwall, including Apologia General Science, which I've taught for 3 consecutive years. My strategy is to make learning challenging and fun in order to foster a love for knowledge.
Our family moved to Plano in April of 2008 when my husband changed jobs. As homeschoolers, it was a hard move away from friends, but we have maintained those relationships and grown new ones here in Plano. We continue to serve at Lakepointe Church in Rockwall, Texas since we are plugged into Awana and other service areas of the church, but we hope to steadily move our school activities to this area. Our family is passionate about the Lord and serving Him with our lives whether that be in education, sports, or everyday life.
