The Chapman home schooling adventure began in 1994.  The two oldest children were in public school at that time.  As my son struggled to read, I realized he needed help and status quo was not working.  I decided at that point that I would teach my son to read or die trying.  We made it through.  This journey developed a passion within me for helping students to succeed in learning.  I have discovered along the way that I love teaching English.  Who knew?  God knew.  He has given me a heart for teens, and He has given me opportunities to develop skills for teaching writing to teens.  Since we started home schooling my two oldest have gone on to graduate home school, graduate college, and are gainfully employed.  Hurray!  The two oldest are also married.  My youngest has been home schooled from the beginning and is getting to the end of her high school journey.  As a family, we have participated with several co-ops along the way.  I have taught writing, worldviews, logic, speech, and debate.  My classes have published newsletters, written novels, given speeches, tackled debate, and learned to be successful in a classroom setting.  The greatest pleasure is to hear former students and parents return with success stories from their college experience as a result of the writing classes.  I love to consult with families about home school and especially those families dealing with struggling children.
