Originally born in Springfield, Illinois, (LOVE to visit Lincolns tomb, and homes) my father, after training at Camp Pendleton before serving in Vietnam, was determined to live in California one day. His dreams took our family from Illinois when I was 9 to Texas, where he found work. From there, he finally fulfilled his dreams, and made it to Southern California (which unfortunately was no longer what it was back then). I grew up fluent in theater, and president of all of my choirs throughout school. History always remaining my favorite subject.

I was married in 1991, and began taking classes at our local college after that. Our first joy was given to us in 1994. She was put into private schools at first. Our second addition came in 1997, it was at that point that we moved into the public school system. From that point on, I was at the school every day. I directed the choir, led the art classes, and taught theater. We then changed school districts. To my amazement, their new school did not want parent participation. I felt as though, not only was I teaching them ahead of their current curriculum at home, but also, felt as though I was expected to simply "drop them off", and drive away. Having no control over what they were exposed to. This is when my unease began. We were attending church regularly, but in California, God was not something you could talk about freely. We finally asked ourselves, "what are we doing here?"

After much prayer, the Lord directed myself, and my family back to Texas. The girls attended one public school, and one private school before the Lord reminded me of why I wanted to be a parent in the first place. It was then, that our homeschooling adventure began. I have now been homeschooling for 5 years, and have also home schooled 2 other students. I have previously taught at two other coops, and LOVE watching the students when something finally "clicks."  Though history needs to be learned through a certain amount of memorization, I also believe that it should not be boring. I enjoy finding ways to make the learning fun, and can't wait to start another year.
