Nicole Holland
Education:
I attend Austin College in
Sherman, Texas. My areas of study are history and political science. I plan to
attend law school after graduation. This summer I will be continuing to work on
my Interpreter Certificate for ASL.
From the summer of 2006
through the spring of 2009 I attended Eastfield Community College.
I was homeschooled during
elementary school and high school for three years.
THEO:
I have been at THEO for one
year teaching Beginning Sign Language, and I will be beginning my second year at
THEO in the fall 2010.
ASL Experience:
Three years of studying ASL
during high school and college.
I was introduced to ASL by
accident. Prior to my sophomore year my family moved to the small town of
Forney, Texas. To my disappointment, I was unable to continue studying French;
the alternative was American Sign Language. Like most hearing individuals I knew
nothing of the Deaf. In learning ASL I was introduced to a new world. I quickly
fell in love with learning about the Deaf World, Culture and language.
I am very excited to share
this love with the students who take American Sign Language.
