Robert Clover-Brown
Greetings from Robert Clover-Brown, also known as Shakespeare Man - holder
of a Master of Arts degree in History from Cambridge University, a Fellow of
the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, an experienced
actor, and an American Citizen since June 2006!
Following a move with my family from London to Dallas in 2002, I have been
featured in TV commercials and print advertising; taught Drama and AP European
History; devised a workshop production for performance by secondary school
students; written and performed a DVD for Dallas Opera’s Education Dept, and
worked as a consultant for CNM’s IMPACT Project for Performing Arts.
As a teaching artist I create, write and perform a wide variety of Shakespeare
Man programs, in my role as William Shakespeare.
As Robert Clover-Brown, I offer Insider’s Insights into English Literature and
History, which draw on my life long fascination with, and study of, Western
Literature and Culture in all its influential forms; make presentations about
Shakespeare from a contemporary and historic view point, and teach Drama
classes. Among many great novelists, poets, historians and biographers from both
sides of the Atlantic, in addition to Shakespeare, I am especially drawn to the
life and work of Jane Austen.
I am a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church where my wife, Lesley,
and I were married in 1994. We have a Junior daughter and a Freshman son, and my
oldest son recently married an American girl whom he met while they were
undergraduates at Hampshire College MA. They are living in Amherst MA. Lesley is
a Fine Arts graduate of SMU and currently a Teachers Aid in a Special Needs
class at Bradfield Elementary, and I feel privileged and blessed to be a
volunteer within both Night Owls and Jesters at HPUMC, which offer remarkable
Special Needs programs.
