Water Media I

Teacher: Cheryl Devoto

Grades: 7 - 12

Meets:  M/W 1:15 pm – 2:45 pm

Class Description: Watercolor is an exciting style of painting that challenges an artist to harness the fluidity of water and use it with saturated color to form dynamic art.   It’s fun for the beginner to the advanced painter. Students will learn through hands-on painting right from the start. Simplified drawing techniques serve as the starting point for several paintings each student will produce throughout the semester using multiple water media techniques on various surfaces. These paintings will be presented at an art show to conclude the semester.

Not artistically inclined? Grading will be based on teach-ability.

In addition to the study of historical watercolor artists, a field trip to Artists’ Showplace will give the opportunity to view the works of respected, local artists.  Water Media II will continue the study of watercolor and fluid acrylics to further develop the students’ skills.
