Drafting
Teacher: Bill Scott
Grades: Grade 6 to Adult
Meets: TBD - Next session will be Fall 2010
Class Description: This is where it all begins. In this class, one will learn how to draw, using the tools and processes of mechanical drawing--to be able to draw what one wants to build. To put it simply, if you can’t draw it, you can’t build it. You will learn to design small projects in wood, plastics, sheet metal and metal scrollwork before moving up to simple furniture. Everything made today, regardless of how simple or difficult, starts on a drawing board.
Cost: Tuition is $65/month from September-December or January-May. $60/month for the second child of a family who takes shop.
Supplies: Everything will be provided except a pencil and good eraser.
Maximum Class Size: 15 maximum students; 3 minimum
Additional Information on other classes taught by Bill Scott: Bill Scott teaches drafting at THEO with plans for another 5 semesters of wood shop classes which are listed on the web. It became impossible for Bill teach semesters 2-6 at THEO due to space limitations so Garland ISD (Namaan Forest High School) has picked up his class! Details about the six week class can be found at:
On the home page to go "Community" in the upper right
Then to "Community Education"
Then to "Special Interest" on the left
Scroll down to Woodworking and registration information will be on the left.
The course cost is $60 plus $15 cash the first day. Total cost is $75.00
Check it out! It is a neat opportunity for our homeschool kids to work in a full shop environment.
