High School English Year 2

Meets:  Tuesday  9:00 - 10:00

Class Description: Counting as a high school English credit, this class builds on the Total Language Plus I, or it can stand alone as an advanced High School English class.  It provides an integrated learning system that focuses on thinking and communication skills using literature as a base.  While reading, students will focus on: spelling, vocabulary, reading comprehension, advanced grammar, punctuation, writing, editing, analytical and critical thinking.  The particular titles chosen are classics of literature that will interest, challenge, and stimulate students to think well.  Upon the completion of each book, a writing assignment will be given, incorporating more of the Institute for Excellence in Writing skills. Titles to be read are:

Maximum number of students: 10

Homework: 2-3 hours per week

Cost:  $45 per month, $36 for students workbooks ($9.00 per title), titles may be purchased or checked out from the library

Supplies that the students should bring to class:  3 ring binder, notebook paper, set of 3x5 index cards
