Vocabulary From the Roots Up

Meets: Wednesday 9:00 - 10:00
Class Description: This class is designed to give each student a more extensive vocabulary and to prepare them for college-level coursework. Using games, quizzes, tests and memory challenges to learn the Greek and Latin root words, the students should end the year with a strong foundation to decipher almost any vocabulary word!
The course will teach a few memory strategies which should be implemented in their homework; homework should take about an hour a week.
Grades will be issued for high school credit, although the class is open to 8-12th graders
Prerequisites: None
Maximum number of students: 8
Homework: A minimum of one hour per week.
Cost: $40
Supplies that the students should bring to class: Red, green and black markers, index cards (with or without lines), a box or case to hold the cards, as well as a 3-ring binder with paper and pencil to take notes
