Jr. High American History - An Interactive Approach

Class Description: Based on William Bennett's curriculum America The Last Best Hope Vol. I, we are diving into American History from the age of discovery 1492 to a world at war 1914.  For home study, students will have password-protected, interactive website with interactive maps, audio podcasts, online quizzes, and links to all the information they need to complete their homework, which should be approximately 1 hour per week.   In class, I go through the rich stories of the book while providing a timeline and PowerPoint presentation.  Students will participate in class by acting out short plays, which will help make the stories come alive.  They will also be debating such topics as Who was at fault for King Phillip's war and Should the US keep the Phillipines at the end of the Spanish American War?
