Apologia Physical Science

Grades: 7 - 9

Meets: T/Th 12:20 - 1:20

Class Description: We will use Exploring Creation with Physical Science by Apologia as our textbook.

The class will cover all the fundamentals of physics and the application of them in meteorology and geology in a course which illustrates the magnificent hand of God in the incredible order of His universe. From the structure of an atom to the “laws” that govern motion, light, sound, and forces, we will appreciate the incredible details of God’s handiwork. Our class time will focus on reviewing the major concepts of each module and doing experiments to illustrate the concepts that the students have studied for the week.

Maximum number of students that you will allow to take this class: 12

Cost per student (numeric only): $60 per month (9 months) and a one time $10 supply fee.

Homework: The student will need to read the assigned pages each week before we cover it and answer the study questions for each module after we cover it. They will also do a test at home approximately every other week. We will also practice writing lab reports regularly. These assignments will require around 2 hours per week at home. Many students can do it in less time.

Supplies that the students should bring to class:

Supply fee will cover necessary supplies for science experiments.
Protective goggles--They cost under $3 at Walmart in the lawn department, or you can add $3 to your supply fee and I will purchase them for you.
Apologia Physical Science textbook Note that the current book is the 2nd edition. **Either edition will work for the class, but the new edition has improved the diagrams and pictures that do aid in understanding the concepts. All the students in class this year did prefer the new book. If you will have students taking Physical Science in the future, you may want to invest in the 2nd edition.
