Class Description: Psychology
introduces students to the history of psychology as well as core concepts of
behavior, memory, intelligence, perception, stress, disorders, social and
cultural influences and more. Biological Bases of behavior introduces the
structure and function of nervous, endocrine and sensory systems. Students will
examine the reasons for normal human reactions: How people learn and think, and
will gather information and synthesize it with real-world application. We will
distinguish between science and assumption and discuss these assumptions from a
Christian worldview. The philosophy is to make psychology relevant, interesting
and approachable via current issues, case studies and activities.
We will use Preparing
Christian Homeschoolers for Psychology 101 by Tim Rice and Discovering
Psychology by Sandra Hockenbury. (Specific book information will be provided
after enrollment).

Homework: Yes, weekly
Cost: $50/month per student; supply fee is $25
Supplies that the students should bring to class: Textbooks, notebook, paper and pen for notes
