Art I (Fall) & Art II (Spring)

Teacher:  Hilary Nagel

Grades: 9 - 12

Meets:  Friday

Class Description: This is a high school level art class geared to meet a fine art credit on the students transcript.  Various media and skills will be covered along with discussion of several artists and their work.  It will benefit the student to take the courses in succession but it is not a requirement.  Art I will focus on drawing skills with various media.  Art II will expand on their drawing skills with pastels, paints and other media.  Opportunity for 3-dimentional work will also be given.  Half of the class time will be spent on instruction and the other half will be set aside for the student to work on their projects.  Students can expect about an hour of homework each week outside of class.  I would also like to incorporate a field trip to the Dallas Museum of Art both semesters and an exhibit of the student's work.

Prerequisites:

Maximum number of students: 12

Homework:

Cost:  $70 per month per student

Supplies that the students should bring to class:  Students will supply most of their art supplies.  A detailed list will be sent to each student at the end of June for fall classes and at the end of November for Spring classes.  The cost of the supplies should not exceed $50 per semester.
