Introduction to Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint, & Word

Teacher:  Lori Green

Grades: 6 - 12 (Adults Welcome)

Meets: Thursday

Class Description: This is a one semester class that will cover the basics of the Microsoft Office products.  We will start with Microsoft Word and learn the basics of word processing.

Next, we will use Microsoft Excel to learn how to enter and manipulate data in a spreadsheet.  Microsoft Word will be introduced to give students experience using a text editor.

For the last part of the semester, we will concentrate on creating presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint.  We will use text, charts, graphs, sound effects and video to liven up a presentation.

Prerequisite:  You will need to have access to Word, PowerPoint and Excel outside of class.  I will be teaching using the 2003 version of Microsoft Office, which is no longer available in stores.  Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007 Full Version is available from most retail stores for $149.00.

You will either need to bring a laptop with Word, PowerPoint, and Excel to class or have the permission of the instructor.

Maximum number of students: 15

Cost per student: $30 per month and a one time $10 supply fee.

Homework:  Homework assignments will give the student hands-on experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations.  If your student needs a grade for this class, they will need to bring their homework each week.
