Long term objective: the student will have the essentials for the second language translation test required for many Master's programs.
The student so motivated will have the skills and knowledge to become fluent in the language.
Focus
Class time will emphasize the areas targeted in placement testing; the cognitive aspect of reading, which involves the consideration of grammatical elements (especially verbs and pronouns), and the skill of listening. Objective multiple choice test scores are greatly enhanced by the use of critical thinking skills, which will be further developed by the completion of such placement type tests.
