Class Description:
Budding Rembrandts curriculum
"Color Explosion”
Introduction to color theory; study of French painter Robert Delauney’s Cubist style and use of color. Students will create their own color explosion using tempera.
“Pointillism”
Introduction to Post-Impressionism technique, using points of color to fill in a still life drawing. Exploring work of French painter Georges Seurat, and utilizing markers and knowledge of color theory to achieve final result.
"Texture and Mosaic”
A wooden frame will be painted and decorated with organic and inorganic items, creating a scene or design of the artist’s choosing.
"Study in Acrylics”
Introduction to Henri Matisse’s Fauvist style of Expressionist painting, using vibrant, arbitrary color. A photo brought by the student will be copied onto canvas and painted in Matisse-style using acrylic paints.
Young Picassos curriculum
“Visual Music”
Introduction to color theory; study in line drawing to create emotion, movement and the impression of music. Use of watercolor paints to add depth and interest to art. Artist Georgia O’Keefe’s work will be examined.
“Pointillism”
Introduction to Post-Impressionism technique, using points of color to fill in a still life drawing. Exploring work of French painter Georges Seurat, and utilizing markers and knowledge of color theory to achieve final result.
“Glass Painting”
Study of “reverse” painting on glass plates. Use of ultra gloss air-dry enamel paint. Students will learn techniques such as masking, scoring and sponging.
“Study in Acrylics”
Introduction to Van Gogh’s painting, using vibrant, energetic color and shape. A photo brought by the student will be copied onto canvas and painted in Van Gogh-style using acrylic paints.
Prerequisites: None
Maximum number of students: 12 per class per session
Homework:
Cost: $125 plus Supply Fee per one-week session ($40 supply fee for 7 - 9 year old; $50 supply fee for 11 - 13 year old).
