
Advanced IEW Writing

Class Description: This class is designed for the writer who would like to be challenged. The format will follow the intermediate program which includes a research paper, Sat writing, literary analysis, and short story publishing. We will review proper mechanics, dress-ups, and openers used in effective essay writing. I will require more advanced stylistic techniques and figurative language to be included in their writing. This class will fully prepare the college bound student for university level writing.
Prerequisites: Beginning/Intermediate IEW or teacher permission
Maximum number of students that you will allow to take this class: 8
Cost per student (numeric only): $50 per month
Homework: There will be 3-4 hours of homework a week depending on the assignment and level of student. To maximize our learning, students will also be required to present papers to the class.

To help prepare you for a rewarding and memorable writing class, I will need each of you to have the following materials with you the first day of class:
1. 3 ring binder (preferable 1 1/2 "- 2")
2. 5 tabbed dividers
3. Loose leaf paper
4. Pen and pencil
