Yearbook Staff

Facilitator: Terri Threadgill

Grades:  6-12th grade and....parents are welcome to help!

Meets:  as prearranged with teacher

Class Description:   Do you want to be published?  Are you creative?  Do you like to take pictures?  Do you like to scrapbook? Are you artistic?  Great, we need you!   If you just like to have a good time with your friends then meet at the park or McDonald's for fun but don't sign up for this activity.  Yearbook is a demanding commitment which will yield jewels for your future transcript and skill set!

Yearbook is the place to be.  Will we work hard?  Yes.  Are we going to create a product to be proud of for years, decades to come? You bet!

Can't attend every week?  That's okay. Josten's yearbook system can be accessed from your home computer via the internet.  You can download pictures and design pages from the comfort of your own home each week even if you don't make it to a set class meeting at THEO.  Every yearbook staff member can work on the yearbook at the same time from the same room or multiple locations.

Yearbook staff will enjoy a session with a photography teacher who will  show us how to take great photos.  We will learn to work as a team and take control of a huge project to meet our deadlines without stress.

Prerequisites: Students and parents alike are welcome to help create our 2008-2009 THEO yearbook but the students must submit an application and schedule an interview with Mrs. Threadgill to be accepted on the THEO yearbook staff.

Maximum number of students that you will allow to take this class: 1-5 max

Cost per student (numeric only): No cost if you sell $50/month in yearbook advertisements.  $50 per month if you don't sell yearbook advertisements.  After the yearbook has gone for publication, you will be asked to sell yearbooks!  And that cost will be more than $50 per month.

Homework:  There are many ways to contribute to our second THEO yearbook.  Hopefully it will be fun work that will feel like play, but if not, the work still must be done in order to meet our goal of a professional looking yearbook we can all be proud of.

Supplies that the students should bring to class:  Bring your digital camera and your calendar to THEO each week.  Access to a computer and the internet.
